Kendriya Vidyalaya Kalimpong came into being in 1985 and since then it has been catering to the educational needs of the stu,dents living in Kalimpong. Blessed with natural and scenic beauty, the school campus is all the time vibrant with academic activities. The teachers are committed to producing well-behaved, well-disposed citizens of tomorrow by endowing them with the universal moral values along with the scientific outlook. The students are taught and trained in such an ambience that they are capable of playing their constructive part in creation of the pluralistic and inclusive society which is the identity of India as a nation respecting all cultures, creeds, and faiths.
The students have been producing good results by virtue of the honest efforts of the teachers coupled with unstinting parental support. In addition to academics, the students showcased their talent in co-curricular activities as well and thereby preparing themselves for future challenges awaiting them in their prospective public and professional life. The Vidyalaya as a unit of KVS believes not only in the students’ academic excellence but also in the character formation as Mahatma Gandhi said that knowledge without character is a social sin. These days our Vidyalaya is busy implementing different policies, practices, and programmes of NEP 2020. I strongly believe that education has become a basic need in the modern time. A person does not live by bread alone. He/she needs education to grow and flourish. Let me conclude with what our Nobel Laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore said: The highest education is that which does not merely give us information, but makes our life in harmony with all existence.
